When Greg Darkhair was on summer break, back in '79, his mother suggested that he might enjoy an event at the library--some sort of a new game that was like Lord of the Rings. He went to the event, and was met with a huge map on a table, metal figurines and a strange array of multi colored dice in strange shapes.
Inspired, he went to the store and spent the money for a boxed set to try it for himself. His first adventures were created on a chalkboard for his younger brother.
43 years, seven editions of D&D, one blog site and over 25 times attending GenCon, Greg is what they call "an experienced gamer." They mean old, since the Darkhair designation is long gone.
But he has a blast with it, running long term games of 5-7 years each, alternating yearly whether he's a GM or player. And despite his experience level, he is always looking to level up, with new games, new styles and new perspectives. |
