Meetings

Toastmasters meetings are structured to efficiently provide many people the opportunity to benefit from speaking. Each meeting is divided into three parts:

  1. Prepared Speeches: This portion generally features 1-3 speeches that have been developed using the project-based Pathways learning program, a program available to each member and focusing on developing a variety of different competencies. This portion of the meeting is hosted by someone known as the Toastmaster-of-the-Day.
  2. Impromptu Speaking: Also known as Table Topics, this portion of the meeting is run by someone known as the Table Topics Master who presents questions or scenarios that members and guests are challenged to speak to or about for 1-2 minutes. By keeping these extemporaneous speeches short, many members and guests have the chance to speak.
  3. Evaluation: This portion of the meeting is dedicated to not only evaluate the 1-3 prepared speeches from the first portion but the meeting as a whole. This portion of the meeting is overseen by someone known as the General Evaluator.

Dungeons & Toast was chartered as an online-only Club, which means all meetings are conducted via Zoom. This allows us to welcome members and guests from all over the world!

Will I Have to Speak?

Toastmasters strives to be a positive and supportive environment; we never require visitors to speak unless they are comfortable doing so! If you are called upon and prefer not to speak, you can simply respond with “pass.”
